FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE THINKING OF REQUESTING REFERENCE LETTERS:

I will be happy to type a reference letter for you but you will need to fill in the contents with your work. This means requesting a reference letter from me after taking one or two classes without any work in any of my laboratories will result in a letter just indicating  your grades and nothing else. Such a reference letter will not provide any benefit for your application.

In short, if you are planning to request proper reference letters from me, you will need to work in my laboratory and do a good job so that I can reflect it on the letter.
