Nur Yiğitoğlu Aptoula
I am an associate professor in the department of Foreign Language Education at Bogazici University where I teach courses in the Foreign Language Education undergraduate program and the English Language Teaching graduate program. My current research focuses on the interface between second language (L2) writing and L2 acquisition, genre-based approaches to teaching of L2 writing and L2 teacher education. I am one of the recipients of 2023 Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (GEBİP).
As a student who graduated with the highest GPA from the department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul University in 2005, I received Fulbright scholarship for my M.A. degree in the U.S.. Two years later, I received Georgia State University's scholarship for my PhD.
Having taught university-level courses in three different countries, I returned back to Istanbul, the city where I was born and the only city I am truly in love with. I am a part of Adidas Runners Istanbul running club, which has the motto of "take charge Istanbul". In 2017, I completed my first full-marathon (42.195 km) at Istanbul Marathon, formerly known as Intercontinental Istanbul Eurasia Marathon. Running over the Bosphorus bridge between two continents was one of the best memories of my life.
