MIS 252 Business Data Communication
In this course, we study the data communication fundamentals for management information systems. The objective of this course is to teach fundamentals concepts of data communication from analog signal level to packet switching networks. Signals, digital and analog communication, analog communication circuits such as filters, modulator, demodulator, RF amplifiers. Local and wide-area networking including protocols, standards, media, topologies, layered networking models, hardware, and software. Students shall learn about basic network setup and administration besides network architecture, protocols, and applications. Important topics include network architecture and communication protocols, network elements, data link, switching and routing, end-to-end protocols, LANs, security and some aspects of network administration.
